direct x vista beta 2

Direct X In Vista Beta 2

Direct X doesn't seem to be up to date in Vista yet. I have a lot of recent games which need the latest updates for Direct X 9 which were last released in June 2006. These updates are missing from Vista Beta at the moment.
The missing files are D3dx9_24.dll through to D3dx9_30.dll
I've
copied the versions from my XP install into the System32 folder of the Vista install and my newer games now work fine.
My question is, Will Microsoft be including these missing files in the final release of Vista?

The reason you are "missing files" may be because Vista uses Directx 10. Perhaps it is your game vendors who need to be brought up to date?

i was under the impression because direct x 10 is not backwards compatable, they are using direct x 9 for this compatibility. along side direct x 10?? though i may be wrong.

After getting off my duff and actually researching the issue instead of merely spouting-off:
Yes, you are correct in the fact that Vista also contains DirectX 9. I was incorrect.
Possibly the answer to the missing DirectX 9 .dll's is in Windows not making the noted June update available to Vista? I'm only guessing.

I guess we will find out at release. I hope this info is useful to anyone who needs help running the latest Direct X 9 games.

This problems happens on Windows XP too, basically some game developers use a different version of DirectX 9 compared to the one Microsoft actually has released, so you need to run the DX setup on the disc with the game to get the extra files across. Even if you're using the "latest" version of DirectX.
If
you run the DXsetup program on the disc it'll copy the files over for you on Vista too.

Hi, I cannot find the said files from my XP system. I've run dxdiag and verified that I am running directX9c on that system. I also don't see the files under the DirectX Files tab in the diagnostics screen. Any ideas?
